~~If you see something, say something.~~
If you see a Nazi, punch a Nazi.
~~If you see something, say something.~~
If you see a Nazi, punch a Nazi.
Also that genocide is bad.
I want a new Wolfenstein game, that goes full arcade frenzy on creative ways to gruesomely kill Nazis.

We're gonna be dropped into France, dressed as civilians. And once we're in enemy territory, as a bushwhacking guerrila army,
we're gonna be doing 1 thang and 1 thang only...
KILLIN NAZIS.
A Nazi ain’t got no humanity. They’re the foot soldiers of a Jew-hatin’, mass murderin’ maniac & they need to be dee stroyed.
The thing they didn't teach is what leads to nazism and how to defeat it. Makes you wonder if that was on purpose...
Nazism never went away. The Prescott Bushes and Joe McCarthies were always there, pulling the strings of the Nixons and the Reagans.
They were in your schools, in your hospitals, in your commerce. You just never saw them because they were at the upper echelons, rubbing their grubby hands together in satisfaction while looking down on you like a spider watching its prey get inextricably tangled in its web.
In other words, yeah it was on purpose. My theory is that it was their plan all along to make a resurgence now, when the last of the WWII vets and people who remember that era are either dead or in assisted living homes.
Even people who were kids during Nixon are retiring now. The new norm has shifted gradually, decade by decade, and now almost no person still working in the US is old enough to remember the FDR economy.
They played the long game, dude. This is their culminating event.
I think it's because what defeated them was violence and "violence is bad". Because the problem of nazism definitely could've been solved diplomatically... >.>
Yeah, even as a kid I could see through this logic. A typical workflow for me in school looked something like this: I get bullied → I stand up for myself → the bully gets violent → I defend myself → we both go to the principal's office and wind up suspended for the same length of time because "violence is bad."
Meanwhile in class I was learning about how our heroic grandfathers stood up to the ultimate bullies and defeated them with... you guessed it, violence.
It made no sense to me then and it makes no sense to me now, because it's illogical. Complete cognitive divorce between "theory" and "practice," or "abstract book knowledge" and "real-world actions/decisions/experience."
The entire US school system is designed around teaching you one thing while ~~encouraging~~ enforcing you to behave otherwise, honestly...
100%.
And on a related note, all of the right wing people who are proud of the US' wartime accomplishments (especially WWII) seem to forget why the US was so good at it. Science and Engineering are the main reasons (okay, scale and being far from a home front [no disrespect Pearl Harbor] top) that the US was so impactful. It's wild that a lot of the people who are particularly proud of developing a devastating bomb are the same people who hate science funding and science itself.
And what caused it to rise was mass economic struggle of the working class.
I got banned from Reddit for saying that the only thing Nazis are good for is target practice.
I am an almost 40 year old white man.. My Grandparents fought the Nazis.
The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi
I got permanently banned from Reddit for saying that Child predators should be killed.
Funny that.
It's reddit. It's run by nazis, for nazis.
Not to mention the current administration that would/isn’t regulating them would be offended by that statement
I appreciated reddit very very narrowly, and entirely because every time I had a problem, the internet search result for said problem would be a reddit post with the solution. . Which isnt even true anymore, between people having scrambled posts before deleting accounts, and just the passage of time, and due to the friendly, helpful people disappearing.
beyond that interaction with reddit, it was a festering shitpile of hatred, bigotry, and pedophilia, and it continues to amaze me how it maintained such a popular position.
I miss having a place with niche communities that were active due to the sheer size of reddit. It's very hard to get one going here - especially with the fragmentation of instances. Want to talk scuba diving? Do you go to the scuba community on .world or on .ml or what?
The community with the most posts last had a post 11 months ago. The one with the most users hasn't had one in a year.
Being Lemmy, that post wasn't really even about diving, but was about about Linus Torvalds making a FOSS dive logging app, because of course it fucking was.
Yeah I agree with all of that. Used to be that Reddit was the place to go to get questions answered... That time is long gone now.
now the place to get questions answered is discord.
Where the answers are now locked away, never to be found, archived, or otherwise made wildly available unless you specifically find that specific discord that contains it by pure happenstance and luck,.. and for it all to disappear when the discord shuts down, Or someone just decides to delete their post, lost forever, never to be seen again.
God I miss web forums.
Both of those perfectly reasonable opinions unfortunately still fall under reddit's site wide umbrella bannable offenses of "inciting harm or violence." 🫤 I know because I'm here for the same reasons.
I got permanently banned from Reddit for saying that Child predators should be killed.
I mean, they made admin (or supermod, can't be arsed to remember) a known child-predator enabler and issued bans on anyone complaining; that should have been a sign of where they were going...
i got nuked from reddit because of Emil Nolde of all people. Someone posted his painting on r/museum and i made a comment about the demented irony of his life - he was hardcore nazi but he ended up in Entartete Kunst exhibition - so somehow mods thought that's condoning nazis and breaking the community rules - boom boom boom and here we are.
Just non-negotiable moral compasses in general. "Yeah, he's obviously an obnoxious racist, chauvinist, paedophile, warmongering, corrupt fascist pig, but have you seen the Dow lately?"
"I was willing to excuse him when he was hauling my neighbours; both citizen' and not away in unmarked vans to be put in concentration camps and subsequently deported without due process but I draw the line at paying more for gas and groceries."
"Of course they can haul away people, they're enforcing the law!" ... "Hey, let me go, this is illegal!"
Not anymore, it's not. People need to keep in mind that concentration camps were legal in Germany in the 30's and 40's.
I mean I grew up with that being told my grandparents were from another time and that's why I couldn't bring black friends around when he was there.
That we shouldn't use our real names on the internet.
Eric
Third places that aren’t bars.
When I was a kid it was general knowledge that you don't talk about politics and religion around polite company.
Nowadays I can't go buy a gallon of milk without someone asshole espousing their shitty beliefs to me, completely unsolicited. Motherfucker I don't even know your name, why in the holy fucking hell would I care about how you feel about trans people in sports while we're in the dairy aisle?
when i was a teenager i was literally called a nazi for speaking ukrainian.
Sounds like someone doesnt know their Nyet's from their Nein's.
Cause it's okay to call someone a nazi for speaking german?
Clothes that change colour when you sweat.
Like red to green, or getting darker? And if it's the latter, why don't they do that? And if it's the former, why would you want that?
Most people know the nazis were bad. They just figure it's because they were german and simplify that belief into nationalism.
