OR...and hear me out...she was in fact a serial killer with the perfect alibi?

[-] lawks@aussie.zone 89 points 5 days ago

I'm listening, but there's a deafening sound of a little lady standing by a swab production line, occasionally giving in to her intrusive thoughts of randomly snatching a swab, licking it, feeling a tiny shiver up her spine, giggling briefly, and putting it back. Her heart fluttering each time she dreamt of her next lick.

[-] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Her heart fluttering each time she dreamt of her next lick.

Wait. When did Lemmy turn into a romance novel?

[-] Noodle07@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

When we finally got soap

[-] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 5 days ago

That's just to create noise in the pattern

That's nothing to what Bert Thistlewaite does to them further down the line.

[-] BoosBeau@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I enjoyed watching Bert until he started charging

This is really just a c/funny/mildlyinteresting/TIL/meme/SoMescreendumps mashup community by now...it's total anarchy with no direction or moderation.

Is that a statement, compliment or an insult? I'm not good with gen Z (or is it alpha?) lingo...

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

"Based" is generally positive.

See Urban Dictionary.

[-] Hazel@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 5 days ago

It's millennial lingo actually.

[-] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 days ago

Well I'm almost 40 so just about as millennial as it gets, I've only ever heard it from people in their mid 20's

[-] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

lil b would be rolling in his grave if he saw how people used it today

The powers that be once again erasing women's achievements.

[-] carrylex@lemmy.world 42 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Of course OP is too incompetent to post the link to the source, so here we go again:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_of_Heilbronn

[-] Krankenwagen@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

You can just post the source with calling them names... Incompetent seems pretty harsh for fucking social media lol. Cool off, touch grass, deep breaths.

[-] carrylex@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Well apparently people can always link the bluesky post or shitty ad infested news websites but never the original article/source. Which usually takes an additional 10s to find.

That's why I call them incompetent.

[-] ABCatMom@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

If it only takes 10s to find, why make such a big deal?

[-] carrylex@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Because a few hundred people have to do it and not just one person once.

[-] naticus@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

If this was c/til I would absolutely agree, but this is c/memes, so maybe slow your role.

[-] Soggy@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Because we should have high standards.

[-] blibla@slrpnk.net 5 points 5 days ago

uncalled for

[-] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

They posted a TIL in a memes community, soooo

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 56 points 6 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Please enlighten me as to how this counts in any way as a meme.

Edit: yes, except for, very specifically, the Dawkinsian sense, if one insists.

[-] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

It is a screenshot of text. Obviously that makes it the meme-est meme of all memes.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 11 points 5 days ago

Sure - a meme is a unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another, often propagating throughout a community and frequently subject to a form of cultural evolution.

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 5 points 5 days ago

I know what Dawkins wrote but that definition is so all-encompassing to be unhelpful outside a specific area of discussion which is why in everyday parlance it's not used.

The meme is that it's an anti-meme. Very, very meta. Peak shitposting.

[-] anzo@programming.dev 3 points 5 days ago

Perhaps the phantom itself was the meme by definition of those days, at the dawn of the Internet.. (:

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 6 points 5 days ago

I was there, Gandalf, I was there 3000 years ago. It wasn't a meme.

[-] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

A meme is a joke told in the form of a funny picture on the internet. This screenshot from Wikipedia may not be a typical meme, but it does have the structure of a joke, including a punch line.

That woman knew how to cover her tracks. Fucking professional.

[-] x0x7@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

The perfect alibi does not exist. /s

[-] rumba@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 days ago

licks fingers you need to keep your fingers moist when packaging up these little swaps, wouldn't want them getting contaminated from a drop on the floor!

[-] jagermo@feddit.org 19 points 6 days ago

The story es even wilder. The swaps were used in the racist killings of the NSU, muddling that even more.

What a clusterfuck

I hadn't heard of those...

What a world we live in. Neo-Nazis actually roamed the streets in the Netherlands against during an extreme-right protest, last weekend...

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 8 points 5 days ago

Not only a serial killer but also a cat burglar, pickpocket, arsonist and numerous other crimes. A regular Doktorin Mabuse.

[-] Stolas@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 days ago

Would watch a documentary on this, assuming there is one.

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

So 40 murder cases in 15 years with no resolution.

Also, there's sure to be a useless trivia community?

[-] Ajen@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

The resolution was that the DNA didn't belong to anyone involved in any of the crimes. It belonged to a woman who worked at the factory that made the contaminated swabs.

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 days ago

For real that's like Dexter Morgan's cover for why he has so many blood slides. Uhh I work in a forensics lab...duh.

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 3 points 5 days ago

She killed people without her face
