I’m in this picture and I don’t like it

[-] Banana@sh.itjust.works 2 points 21 hours ago

I think the best snack here is this guy's hog

[-] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

A better snack are frozen yogurt berries.

[-] Toneswirly@beehaw.org 6 points 1 day ago

My ass will start baking cookies at midnight. Theres always flour, sugar, and baking powder in the house regardless of how healthy im trying to be.

[-] multifariace@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I tried coming up with alternatives for my cravings. Jicama wasn okay, but I didn't get it again.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

Trail mix.

Nuts, cashews, pecans, raisins/dried fruits, a few m&ms or what not sprinkled in.

Its got way more actual nutrients than most snack food, way less hyper processed nonsense, and is just literally more dense, so a few handfulls and you'll be as full as an entire bag of chips.

Salty, crunchy, sweet.

Obv not a good plan if youre allergic to nuts, though.

[-] Honytawk@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 day ago

Too energy dense, they will make you fat.

[-] Banana@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

sorry, didn't understand the assignment, ate trail mix, lost 20lbs

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

Look at this guy over here with his self-control

[-] tb_@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Grapes are pretty cool too. Or baby carrots.

[-] Banana@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

hell yeah! If you are somebody that wants something less calorie dense, go for something higher in fibre because it'll fill you up. Most fruit is surprisingly high in fibre!

Keep doing it and you'll stop craving it. Also remember reading something that when you feel like snacking, drink water your body is thirsty.

[-] hamsamrich@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I can vouch for the water trick. I add two heaping teaspoons of psyllium fiber. Gives me that satisfying filled feeling.

[-] softwarist@programming.dev 22 points 1 day ago
[-] bertlewirth@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

I’m not sure, but it looks like the cat loves the fibre

[-] MycelialMass@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

On week 7, snack cravings are less but totally still there

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It gets easier.

It doesn't get easy.

[-] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 10 points 2 days ago

It doesn't get easier. But you do get faster. -Greg Lemond, Tour de France winner

It's a slightly ablest quote, but in a world of quotes that fail to inspire me at all I find this one often does the trick.

Similar idea in song form, you might like it

Also, eat more fiber throughout the day, and it helps with the cravings a lot. But yes water is good. I also have tea a lot when I'm craving my late night munchies.

[-] merde@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

late night tea is at least 2 zombie walks to the loo

Look at Mr. Fucking Rockefeller here with his walk in pantry! Poor guy with his food rooms and pants and shit.

[-] nialv7@lemmy.world 30 points 2 days ago

Good job, past me. I hate you

[-] Beth@piefed.social 20 points 2 days ago

I bought myself intermediate, mediocre snacks. If I’m really hungry I guess I’ll have some corn flakes and blueberries.

[-] grranibal@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago

Cornflakes and blueberries sound delicious tho

[-] frostysauce@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago
[-] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I guess I could eat these baby carrots

That's what I said about babies and now I'm in prison so ... Moral of the story is don't eat vegetables no matter how plump and succulent.

[-] Donkter@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Baby carrots are a perfect line for me. I love baby carrots, but I definitely have to be hungry enough to eat them instead of just craving salt or sugar.

That's a terrible feeling that I have definitely experienced. "That stupid jerk (past-me) did this!"

[-] 4am@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 days ago

I’d realize I was dreaming pretty quickly in a pantry that size

[-] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Is it better or worse that they're clearly using it to store chemicals and random junk they never use?

[-] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

Well they clearly don't have a lot of food in the house, but have tons of storage space in the house, so inevitably the space gets filled with something.

[-] Baguette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 day ago

Try Konjac jelly, there's a lot of japanese pouch versions of these and they're like under 10 calories total so you dont feel bad. Kinda pricy outside asia though

[-] glitch1985@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Diaper king? What does it taste like?

[-] Baguette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago

LOL i grabbed the first image I found of one, didn't even see who the reseller was

The idea behind konjac jelly is basically it's a soluble fiber, I'd assume that's why that reseller is advertising it. It's essentially a mini fiber supplement which is kinda nice to have in stock in kombinis because fiber is surprisingly hard to find in japan, fruit there is expensive.

It just kinda tastes like lychee jelly both texture and flavor wise if you ever had it, minus the sugary portion. You can get the sugary option but that adds about 50 to 100 calories. Theres also other flavors, but I personally like lychee or grape.

[-] nanometer1625@thelemmy.club 9 points 2 days ago

The corollary to stoners being able to make a pipe out of anything is that stoners are able to make a snack out of anything.

[-] Fredselfish@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

This our life and damn it tough.

Fuck past me, he was an idiot! Not buying those chips was exactly the wrong thing to do!

[-] Shirow@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 days ago

So real :3 Where are my munchies 𐔌՞. .՞𐦯

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.org 8 points 2 days ago

have you checked your belly?

Sadly, my munchies are completely fine with a piece of bread and something on top, or the bunch of popcorn i still have to make in a large pan. On one hand, at least they have no issues with cheap snacks, otoh there's always something at home that can be redefined to snack by them.

[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 days ago
[-] justlemmyin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

But, Pics peanut butter is all we need.

[-] NarrativeBear@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Have you seen how expensive cereal is? Not even including the milk.

I guess you can use water like another commenter said in the thread.

Given the title, I’m confused by the fact that the picture in this post is not of me

After this being me so often i now boil half the dozen of eggs. Quick protein.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
