Penis=child will be forced into football causing much pain and suffering in the chance they'll be able to get a multi-million contract to get concussions on live tv.

Vagina=child will be starved and forced to wear shoes that are extremely painful and dance for someone else's visual enjoyment. The dance can also be damaging to the body.

[-] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

When I see all the peewee football camps here I just feel depressed. I call them concussion camps.

I spent most of my public education life as a straight young boy avoiding team sports in gym class like the fucking plague.

Junior year of high school, I find out I could 1.5x gym credits for taking dance, figured I'd tolerate that in order to get my gym requirement out of the way faster.

Dance class: I'm working harder, significantly more involved and engaged, having more fun, and I get to start the day out hanging out with mostly girls in leotards. There was literally no down side.

Straight guys who avoid dancing are fucking idiots.

[-] KernelTale@programming.dev 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I've never liked dancing. I've just had more fun with masculine stuff like table tennis, badminton, programming, baking, skirts, dresses, makeup, and estrogen.

[-] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 14 points 4 days ago

There's such a shortage of boys in ballet that they can go to classes at either a heavily reduced rate or completely free. And if you didn't know, ballet is fucking expensive.

Sorry but you won't escape this kind of thinking in the Netherlands either 😅

[-] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 4 days ago

Nooooo 😭
My dream is shattered

[-] Axolotl_cpp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

Spain seems a better option (can any spaniard confirm?)

[-] Eq0@literature.cafe 11 points 4 days ago

It is significantly less prevalent from my perspective than in other places. Less forceful and less in your face. Still there

I am cisfem, I wrestled for 6 years ending my junior year after copious amounts of harassment and a sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuit against one of my coaches. Fun! We moved around a lot so I experienced a lot of attitudes around it. Not all bad, some of my coaches were super into having me, one was having a baby daughter with his wife and followed my career to the end! I’m sure she knows all about me!

These days there are girl’s programs for that all over the place, but back then my choice was to be on a boy’s team or, if offered (never was) gymnastics was supposed to be a physically equivalent sport if the school had both, so had I gone somewhere big with both gymnastics and wrestling I could have never gone nearly to state in wrestling and been offered tryouts for the olympics.

I didn't place well enough, because I come from a shitty country that trains people in yokel wrestling and not what they do everywhere else, but that’s not the point. I didn't want to do gymnastics, I'm not coordinated. I have no interest in something where I can fall and hurt myself, other than climbing trees and short buildings. I’d never have been good enough to try out for the olympics as a gymnast. Most of my wins were mat technique or pins, and I created a cradle nobody could mimic or get out of if they got into it, because they were too lanky to have leverage, because they were adolescent boys, I had flexibility and “stopped growing at 12 and started training” short girl muscle.

Thanks for letting me rave about my long past history :)

[-] svcg@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

Firstly, I'm very sorry to hear about the harassment you received. That shit sucks.

Secondly, I'd be very interested to hear more about what you meant by your country not teaching modern wrestling. (I assume we're talking freestyle rather than Greco-Roman?) Has it really changed that much?

[-] CentipedeFarrier@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The US does folkstyle throughout non-college school years, rather than either of the forms of wrestling that are done in olympics. Its just an entirely different system. If you want to learn freestyle to be internationally competitive or wrestle for colleges, you have to spend a ton of money on camps and stuff to learn.

Kid gender ideology is capitalism trying to get everyone to buy colors of toys/clothes for one kid with a 50% chance of them not wanting to reuse them for the second kid.

A mother at our bus stop rolled out a 1 yr old in a pink pusher car apolegitcally saying they were going to get their aunt to get him a red one this week.

  1. it's not really an issue pushing a boy around in a ping car

  2. if you can't deal, there is always spraypaint.

[-] Knoxvomica@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

My son has a big sister, you can bet your ass he's pushed around in a pink / purple fairy covered car while wearing pink socks. Idiot parents throwing money out the window because of fucking colours.

[-] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

That woman knows not the glories of Rome, for it was pink that marked a legion as having earned glories and not the untested red they matched with first. A vexillum still stands yet fools are blinded to the glories of Rome!

Also pink is a very safe color, it pops to the human eyes due to being relatively rare in nature unlike red or blue. Frankly more safety vests need to be made pink and thinned skinned morons forced to deal with it.

[-] piccolo@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Its funny too because pink was once the 'boy' color and blue was the girl color.

[-] BlaestEgnen@feddit.dk 2 points 3 days ago

If I'm not mistaken, it was red. Because that was commonly the colour of kings

[-] OnyxRex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 35 points 4 days ago

I wouldn't go as far as to say I hated sports as a penis-haver, but they did always put me to sleep. They were boring and then the adults would scream at the TV for something or another and wake me up from my snooze. Why do I want to watch a bunch of blurs run around a field be narrated by two old guys? or a bunch of cars going in circles narrated by two old guys?

I still don't get it. Dad took me to a baseball game once and all I can remember is the drunk old lady yelling at the players from right behind me.

[-] drcobaltjedi@programming.dev 16 points 4 days ago

Yeah, my dad trys so hard to get me into watching the blues play or go to a boring ass baseball game. Yes they're fun for him but my god there's nothing going on, hell in baseball for half the game they aren't even playing.

[-] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

I can understand thinking baseball is boring despite not agreeing, but there isn’t a sport more frenetic and exciting than hockey imo. Especially playoff hockey.

[-] kettuli@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Hockey is exciting if you’re into the match and/or sport.

[-] LefterShark@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

He hits the puck, now someone else hits the puck, wow the first guy just hit the puck again, the puck is now in a net, the crowd is screaming!

I’d rather read a book.

The only benefit I see is a more safe outlet for tribalism. Otherwise, you get maga.

[-] Brgor@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

I'm not sure this follows. Sports exist and we still have maga

I do hate them, too. I'm with you. You're not alone. Hugs. 🫂🫂🫂

[-] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 days ago

Thank you 🫂

[-] Homo_Erectus@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 days ago

Do people argue this irl ?

I mean, is a fucking cake, don't care about gender of it.

[-] itsjustachairmary@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

Yea they absolutely do lol. This points to all gender essentialism I think, which is definitely something that is still very present.

You're entitled to your own opinion. As long as you're respectful and don't spew hatred everywhere (not accusing you of that), you're good.

I'm just curious, what exactly do you mean?

[-] white_nrdy@programming.dev 11 points 4 days ago

I'm guessing they don't like football or ballet

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 days ago
[-] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 4 days ago

I see. I misread your intentions and I apologize.

Lots of trolls here today, don't know why...I think the troll farms are waking up

This is why I always say, the cistem = gender ideology. After all, it's forcing your image upon others.

[-] nuko147@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

As a european, I would go for the ballet over American "football" anytime.

They're completely blind to their own hypocrisy too.

[-] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 4 days ago

But we all know the dominant ideology is not an ideology at all. /s

[-] Hackworth@piefed.ca 6 points 4 days ago

This one's doubly weird, since there's a long tradition of American football players taking ballet or dance classes to help with footwork, flexibility, and timing.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

They really forced gender based division when I was a kid, elder millennial. I've noticed it's ingrained in most people my age. It took me forever to get my husband to wear pink, as an example.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
