Republicans hate "BiG gOvErNmEnT" so much they are completely letting all these giant corporations price gouge and report record profits while workers are struggling. Regulation is bad and scary! Them and their rich donors will still be fine when gas, egg, and bread prices skyrocket...

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 4 minutes ago

Yep. Companies have said that they like the tariffs and inflation because they can raise prices and consumers can't tell if it's the greed or inflation that raised those prices.

“Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell”

[-] jaykrown@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

That's actually a great reframing. We are all indeed experiencing the cost of greed crisis. If you read about the circular financing in the AI debt bubble, it's driving the costs up for everything indirectly.

Mine was the 666th upvote, hasn't happened in a while.

When trying to decide which business to burn down at the next riot, can we see more banks targeted? Landlords would be good too.

Why did they dip this screenshot in strawberry milk

[-] biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

To wash the powdered milk away, duh

[-] JesusTheCarpenter@feddit.uk 2 points 1 hour ago

Yeah, I was wondering what's going on with my screen to realize that it's actually deep fried meme. In all seriousness looks like someone taking a photo of someone's screen.

[-] nailbar@sopuli.xyz 25 points 6 hours ago

For flavor, obviously

[-] Skua@kbin.earth 4 points 5 hours ago

Most likely they're using one of those programs that tints the screen warmer colours in the evening, like f.lux

[-] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago

We have a word for this, but some people are still afraid to use it.

Asocial mental decline?

Problematic economic hoarding?

Acting like a fucking cunt?

Honestly, could be any of these.

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 hours ago

Rent-seeking?

[-] JamieDub86@piefed.social 4 points 5 hours ago

I'm fairly certain that they only use that word when it's the poors asking for money.

Don’t forget layoffs too.

[-] papalonian@lemmy.world 50 points 9 hours ago

I don't think you understand. These poor companies are only doing what they must to provide excellent products and services to the masses. If you cannot afford them, simply stop being poor.

[-] Dryad@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

Need the Izma gif for this one. “You really should have thought about that before you became peasants!”

[-] Fiery@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 hours ago

Ikr, think of the shareholder value that is being created.

[-] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 33 points 9 hours ago

Have you tried asking your parents for a few million dollars?

[-] bantering@lemmy.zip -1 points 2 hours ago

Such as Micron's 89% margin on stuff they sell to businesses which create consumer products, up from somewhere around 30%

[-] hayvan@piefed.world 13 points 9 hours ago

Late stage capitalism. Working as intended.

[-] aksdb@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

„Working ass” intended.
