President Donald Trump spent early Tuesday night making desperate phone calls and blasting Fox News before midterm election results came in.

“I have the ultimate power — it’s called ‘veto,’” President Trump told CBS News in a phone interview before polls first began to close in some states. Already, Trump appeared to make excuses for a potentially massive Republican loss.

Trump also called the Financial Times, assuring reporter Edward Lucas that the U.S. has no immediate plans to strike Iran, the Middle East country Trump started a war with in February.

Trump had a particular grudge against Fox News Tuesday night, texting commentator Greg Gutfeld about his disdain for liberal Fox News commentator Jessica Tarlov.

Definition of a good day: Any day Trump is suffering

[-] CedricWhaley@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 30 minutes ago* (last edited 11 minutes ago)

The day his suffering ends will also be pretty good.

[-] Sunflier@lemmy.world 5 points 31 minutes ago* (last edited 31 minutes ago)

A great day would be him + his cabnet suffering. An orgasmic day would be him + his cabnet + his voters suffering.

On a call with the NYT, he said he will accept the results and that he would work with the democrats.

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 1 points 10 minutes ago

You're funny

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 49 points 2 hours ago

a clearly frantic Trump blamed a potential Republican loss on everyone but himself.

Of course he did. 🤡

[-] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 9 points 27 minutes ago

Mr. 'pretend I'm on the ballot'. And we did, and he lost.

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 hours ago

Don "Veto" Trumplioni.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 192 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I'm just happy he's suffering.

[-] athairmor@lemmy.world 28 points 2 hours ago

Any additional stress on him can only hasten the ultimate solution to his madness.

[-] FullPenguin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 hour ago

And let him and his friends get off that easy? No way, try them all, convict them, send them to prison or the gallows, and claw back as much of the money they've gained at the expensive of the country as possible.

[-] orclev@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago

Even if he died he should still be tried posthumously, if only to give his victims closure, claw back some of the money he's stolen for those victims, and to insure his legacy as the most criminal president of the US is properly recorded. It will also be important for the cases against his collaborators.

[-] FullPenguin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

You can't try someone criminally posthumously, and the civil trial would not carry the same weight.

Let alone the media surrounding him would quickly disappear and his cronies could quietly fade from the lime light with all the money they stole.

[-] cyphear@thelemmy.club 5 points 38 minutes ago

If Pope Formosus could be tried nine months after his death, I don't see any reason why we couldn't do it again. Seeing as how Trump was "God-sent" it should be well within the powers of the Roman Catholic Church to do so again.

[-] StabbingSky@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 minute ago

But the Roman Catholic Church protects child rapists.

[-] BassTurd@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I'd prefer a prolonged suffering for him, both physically and financially, but for the betterment of the people domestic and abroad, I'll gladly take a quick ending and a posthumous charging of his and his families crimes.

It's not the justice he deserves, but it would be best for everyone in the short term.

[-] sexy_peach@feddit.org 72 points 4 hours ago

Same, hopefully dying soon

[-] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 32 points 3 hours ago

No way. I want to watch him and his cronies squirm in court first. He can die after that.

[-] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 2 points 40 minutes ago

I don't care if he I dies, I just want his family to repay all the money its stolen from the American people.

[-] Feidry@sh.itjust.works 30 points 3 hours ago

I don't care about making him suffer. There's been enough suffering because of him. I just want him to die and be rid of him for good.

[-] sexy_peach@feddit.org 15 points 2 hours ago

Same, also I don't trust americans to not elect him again.

Wait, didn’t he bomb them yesterday?

Two more years of this crap….

[-] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 34 points 3 hours ago

Maybe not.

The GOP civil war has started, its just a matter of who will fire the first bullet and when?

We've heard for years GOP congressmen HATE Trump. Now they see America HATES Trump too. Who (if any) will scramble to cross party lines to impeach and remove to save their own careers?

I mean, we shouldn't let them save their own careers, but we should let them act like there's a chance to appease us before we vote them out and (god willing) prosecute them.

[-] tburkhol@lemmy.world 9 points 2 hours ago

Americans on the whole hate Trump, but there's still that core of 30-ish% who love him uncritically. They're all Republicans, which makes them around 60% of the GOP and more than enough to determine primary outcomes. It's hard to get nominated as a Republican without Trump, and now we see that it's hard to win with Trump.

I suspect that most of those cult members will just stop voting once their idol fades away. Maybe that will let the Republicans recover in 2030, but you just know Trump's going to be out for his base in 2028.

[-] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 minutes ago

Just to add to your point about his cult. Reminder a lot of them were politically unengaged up until 2016, without Trump there's a solid chance they become inactive again.

Mind you there's always a risk they latch onto one of his kids but they will still most likely bleed 10 percent or so of their numbers in the process.

[-] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 4 points 32 minutes ago

I suspect that most of those cult members will just stop voting once their idol fades away.

God willing

you just know Trump's going to be out for his base in 2028.

Let's hope we get a Big Beautiful Day before that can happen.

[-] 4am@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 hour ago

The founding fathers probably never expected things to go this sideways, but one of the features of seperation of powers was supposed to be that politicians would save their own skin and stop other branches from doing the wrong thing.

The problem is having captured all the branches, there was no sinking ship for the rats to flee. That has now changed, Trump has become a sinking ship

A pity that nobody can afford popcorn in this economy.

[-] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 27 points 3 hours ago

I've been waiting for this for a decade.

[-] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 25 points 3 hours ago

This is just the tease.

What we've been waiting for is impeachment, removal and prosecution.

[-] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 9 points 2 hours ago

No.

Don't impeach him, destroy his Project 2025 agenda first.

Get gas prices down, get food prices down, end the Iran War.

If you impeach the GOPs can play the 'it was just about Trump' card and come back.

If the Dems show they can actually lead, it kills the GOP forever.

[-] cruseo@piefed.world 17 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Not only do I seriously doubt he’ll be impeached, I’m quite certain there aren’t enough votes in the Senate to remove him if he does get impeached. it will be a monumental waste of time and effort. And it would change very little, because a President JD Vance would not be much better.

Instead, the Democrats should focus the next two years on investigating every single thing Trump, his family, and his cronies have been doing, and putting as many of them in jail as possible and completely neutering Trump for the next two years.
