Hi all, it's Canvas time again! We all work together to place pixels and build an image.

Here is the template we have (decided in this post):

You log in with your Lemmy account by entering your instance (e.g. lemmy.nz) then your username (e.g. Dave). It sends a code to you via a message and then you enter it to prove it's your account. No password necessary!

My plan is to start with the outline of the template to clearly define our spot, then to start filling in the rest.

Hello everybody, last year's canvas featured a vegan logo. This year's is still pretty empty in terms of veganism. How about we change that?

Pawb.social is well on it's way to making an icon in the bottom left, anybody got some ideas for what we could do? Maybe a pixel version of our yeen, or something more suggestive?

What is this?

For all you Reddit refugees this is like r/place.
For all who don't know what that is either, this is a public, well, canvas, that will be freely accessible to anyone with a Fediverse account (specifics on the main post, don't worry, Lemmy is included).
You'll be able to place (this is not place!!!) one pixel every certain amount of time on the canvas, either in an empty or an already used spot, overwriting it in the latter case.

Why should I care?

I don't know, it could be fun and it's not like you have to do it alone, it's actually way more fun to partecipate alongside your fellow fediversers, sooo... monke together strong?
If you have some particular interest and you want it represented, try to look for your people in the right communities, and organize together to make the best fricking piece of pixel art the world has ever seen!!

From here I guess we can invite you to maybe make a little something for our lemy.lol instance's community, claiming a patch of land for ourselves as the (certified) best instance of the Fediverse (full disclosure: am admin of said instance).
If we want to make something, we can probably make a Matrix room to coordinate our efforts!
Otherwise, just go ahead and have fun with your loved <insert niche game/anime/film/any piece of media> and make something out of it!

Just a head's up for everyone, in a month we'll be having this years (and 2nd annual) Canvas! If you don't know: It's the Fediverse's version of Reddit's 'Place' (the community pixel-art thing!)

If you all wanna try and make some little art piece and are good at pixel art I'd be down, otherwise lemmy.zip does their own one which we could contribute to. Either way I'll update as we get closer.
