A white guy in a MAGA hat and grey shirt with the American flag on the front, and I H8 Socialism on the shoulder sitting at a table with his wife who is showing him all the past due bills.

MAGA: I’m telling you, once we get the checks from Trump for the DOGE savings…

…and tariff windfall…

…and midterm bribe…

… we’ll be fine!

Their house is in shambles. Their cupboards have stickers that read “Socialism is Evil” and “Stop the Government Handouts”

The dumbfucks are desperate, let me tell you.

Driving through Texas I saw a giant billboard that read:

Texans, The Democrats now support communism! Republicans don't!!

Just reeks of desperation so close to midterms in a red state. Almost as if they think their supporters are losing faith in them so they make up "scary scenarios" to win them back.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 31 points 2 weeks ago

Playing devil's advocate here, but many parts of Texas are purple or even blue; it's just gerrymandered to hell. Texas contains a lot more than just staunch MAGAs, so even if they weren't desperate (which they are to be clear) they'd want to take dumb shots at Democrats.

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

Not just, the government of Texas sued to stop 2m+ mail in ballot applications from getting delivered so that people couldn't apply that way. They're fighting tooth and nail to hold on to their illegitimate power.

[-] starik@lemmy.today 7 points 2 weeks ago

Talarico has been leading in the polls. This could be the year of Blexas!

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Talarico is the senate race I'm hoping for hardest. Paxton is a hate filled criminal psychopath who isn't afraid to push for laws not even Nancy Mace would put her name next to. Talarico on the other hand seems pretty chill

[-] whatstatersprecious@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I’d say it’s the best chance in decades, but Talarico is still <50%.

[-] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Betting markets are just polls you can bribe. All a candidate has to do is make some bets in their favor, and you'll be convinced they're winning the race.

[-] whatstatersprecious@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Oh I’m not talking about those gambling sites. That’s just my personal view on the odds for this race.

Lot of support for Talarico - I’ve seen maybe 30+ Talarico signs for every Paxton sign (I’ve seen only one Paxton sign so far…)

But I just still think the guy with an R next to his name will win.

[-] myyass@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's the same with Florida. If you look at results where people actually live compared to middle of nowhere's' it paint's a better picture.

[-] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Iirc, 54% of Texans vote Democrat if it weren't gerrymandered.

[-] arrow74@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Then you recalled very wrong.

Just look at US Senate and Presidential election results. These elections are voted at large so it counts everyone's votes equally no districts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_elections_in_Texas

As you can see every single presidential since Reagan was a Republican win in Texas. Majorities ranging between +3% to +27%, last election Trump won 56% of the vote.

I'm not saying the state isn't gerrymandered, it definitely is, most states are. But it's certainly not a majority Blue state at least historically. I'm hoping for a major upset this election cycle

[-] scops@reddthat.com 24 points 2 weeks ago

Every once in a while I'll catch a local political ad and they are always going after Dems for letting this criminal or that off the hook. Literally the best they can do is fear-mongering. No more "We can keep money in your pocket!" or "Small government is best!". It's all culture war nonsense.

[-] chunk6235@piefed.social 21 points 2 weeks ago

I really wish the Democrats would fire back that they're letting pedophiles off the hook by not releasing the Epstein files (and protecting the PedoTUS).

I actually saw a lawn sign the other day in the rust belt with the orange dipshits face and the text "Pedophile pride is a Republican value" and I wish I hadn't been driving to snap a picture.

[-] Serinus@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Not to mention, if you want to talk about letting criminals off the hook...

  • Trump pardons Binance founder Changpeng Zhao - 23 October 2025
  • Trump pardons Jan 6th - almost pardoned the pipe bomber
  • President Donald Trump granted a full and unconditional pardon to Arthur Delo, the co-founder of the cryptocurrency platform BitMEX, in March 2025. Following his pardon and return to public life, Delo became a major financial donor to Reform UK in British politics. Additional BitMEX founders who faced similar charges also received pardons from Trump.
  • President Donald Trump granted a full and unconditional pardon to Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the dark web drug marketplace Silk Road, on January 21, 2025.
[-] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'm fine with DPR being released for the site, but maybe the attempt at murder for hire should have kept him in.

[-] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

The president doesn't actually read the files for a pardon.

Bribe cashed in? Ok where's the kiddies sharpie to sign the order?

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 13 points 2 weeks ago

They thought Biden was a communist so why would you try to reason with them?

[-] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

BIDEN A COMMUNIST?? Yeah and next you will tell me that they think Hitler was jesus

Wait a minute...

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, so the terminology used by the US right-wing media is so fucked that essentially liberal=communist= anyone to the left of Reagan, but ALSO, for fearmongering purposes, they're all actually super left-wing extremists.

The only part of it that has taken hold outside of conservative bullshit circles is that the word "liberal" no longer means someone who loves the free market and now has more to do with social justice and even supporting universal healthcare is a "liberal" thing in the US because the socialism word is evil or whatever.

Parts of it have carried over to some EU countries too because at least here in Estonia, the far right looks to Trump and Fox News for their talking points these days (weird in a country with <30% religious people) and our liberals (actual liberals, the kind who want to cut services and reduce taxation) have been called socialists lmao

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

Reagan is too left for the modern GOP

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

they have significant amount of south americans that are R voters, they also need to keep them in check with the communist boogeyman, cant afford to lose thier votes them in the south.

[-] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

One of the political ads in ohio say "now that dangerous radicals" blah blah with a pic of AOC, Bernie and I think either Mamdani or Al-Sayed...and behind them is a protest with the only real legible sign says "Medicare for all".

Easy access to healthcare is a "dangerous radical* idea according to them

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 10 points 2 weeks ago

while at the same time republicans are the biggest recipiant of welfare from the state, farm subisidies, oil subsidies,,,etc, plus medi-caid and ACA related insurance.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 56 points 2 weeks ago

Narrator: There will be no checks.

[-] proudblond@lemmy.world 30 points 2 weeks ago

He has a “stop government handouts” sticker so he should be fine with that, right?

[-] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 22 points 2 weeks ago

The only moral government handout is my government handout.

[-] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

[-] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Except for the red hat and the ugly orange mug, it's every GOP election ever. When have they ever filled a promise to the masses?

[-] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 33 points 2 weeks ago

Doge checks? I'm still waiting for the next round of pandemic stimulus checks he promised, which should come any day now.

[-] GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago

You gotta wait until the next pandemic which should be any day now...

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 15 points 2 weeks ago

I worry Americans are going to vote the GOP in for the 5k

[-] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 weeks ago

The premise of "Gay for Pay" is that an otherwise heterosexual person is willing to perform sexual acts for money with people of the same sex. It's a common fantasy/kink/trope for porn, strippers, sex workers, and so on. The embodiment of gay for pay is the joke "I'm not gay, but $20 is $20."

Many gay for pay professionals actually are gay (or more generally LGBT+), though. Certainly not all, but many. It's just a part they play because it makes them more money.

No doubt in my mind, most Americans who would vote MAGA GOP allegedly for the 5K are like that later group. They were going to vote GOP anyway, they are themselves MAGA through and through.

Now they can be performative and say things like "I'm not MAGA, but 5K is 5K" without ever having to publicly address the real reasons they vote the way they do. In fact, they can abandon all rational discussion of any other issues this way. "I don't like ICE, but 5k is 5K".

The bribe is a classic example of convenient cover.

Of course, the promise of 5K actually is the main/only reason some people might vote at all, let alone for MAGA candidates. They mostly aren't politically informed and savvy. They probably don't keep up with the news or if they do it's only from the most biased and dishonest sources. They do not realize the 5K checks won't happen as stated regardless of who wins.

[-] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

But a fake 5k is still nothing.

[-] aesthelete@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Realistic worry. We're a country full of fucking suckers.

Then they get their power bill and heating oil bill.

[-] X@piefed.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Good artwork, and it somewhat reminds me of the conservative cartoonist Ben Garrison; but, y’know, based in actual reality.

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

With substantially less cum.

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

If it was Garrison, everything in the image would have a label on it explaining what it is. (Guy knows his audience -- knows they need all the help they can get.)

[-] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

The sleeve verbiage is a nice touch.

[-] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Probably has a closet full of ua fReEdOm tshirts

[-] mrmisses@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I'd those idiots could comprehend they'd be very upset

[-] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

I hope they end up on the streets cuz they're "too proud" to use the social services they talk shit about. But we all know theyd just complain that "it isn't enough for them".

[-] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

These people are walking jokes, and I want to laugh … no wonder they’re angry. Squaring a round hole, geesh.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ever seen Braveheart?

When the local lord gets to take every man's new bride to bed on their wedding night?

Yeah, MAGAts are just about there.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I only slightly regret making this
