I don’t really have an ethical problem with it, unless we all want to hunt for our own meat then the way we grow and harvest stock is what it is. But the quality of chicken has decreased over the past decade. That’s what I take issue with.
Reports like these are the reason I couldn't stand eating meat anymore. Went vegetarian first but learned soon that vegetarism is just meat eating with extra steps. Everything thats for vegetarians but not vegan contributes to the same suffering as eating meat.
It's all worth it even with all the shit I get to eat from other guys for being a vegan man.
Get a vegan cookbook,vegan suppliments and be part of the change.

Another post comes out highlighting yet one more of the enumerable ways we humans absolutely ruin the lives of other animals. Like clockwork, the few people who actually take the simple, reasonable steps to approach a better way of life get dogpiled by all the others who have their bag of holding ready with every stale excuse and outright lies about veganism to continue the status quo.
We are in a thread about one form of cruelty towards chickens - only one small part of an entire supply chain of fucked up that is going on right now more than ever - which would probably lead to a whole multiple weeks of news and outrage and lawsuits if it was done to humans.
And you decided that your goal was going to be to come in here and automatically decenter the conversation away from the animals because you wanted to argue with vegans?
Listen, whatever your self identity is, if you are doing what you can to stop supporting these things, that's awesome I'm proud of you. I do not care about identity politics, especially when it gets into the No True Scottsman obnoxiousness. If you are doing what you can, with what you have, that is good enough for now. And I hope you're able to feel inspired to push things further.
But if your whole thing is to just come into these posts to argue with vegans, first of all, get a real job. Second, look, I don't care to frame things around whether someone is good or bad. We all just do things, and there are consequences for those things for better or worse. This isn't about vegans, this is about literally every species of animal on the planet, both including and excluding us.
Every time we pay for an animal product, we are complicit in all the things being done to both humans and other animals to get that product. That is the cold hard reality. That is never going to go away unless we all collectively change.

I don't come here to argue with vegans. Vegans come to these posts of their own volition. If anything I'm a huge supporter of free-range vegans that feel it necessary, nay, compelled to argue of their own accord.

Under capitalism, animals are just resources to be extracted and turned into products and profits. The conditions of this extraction may vary slightly, but ultimately this is never going to change under a system that fundamentally removes humans from nature, as well as focuses on accumulation of capital above all else.

Are you serious? Abusing animals for sport and gambling was widespread, across many cultures, millennia before modern capitalism.
The Wikipedia article on bloodsport lists plenty of examples of human on animal or animal on animal violence to the death.
And that's to say nothing of the use of non-consenting human slaves for blood sport.
There's something to be said for the cruelty of industrialized slaughter, but let's not pretend that human cruelty to animals isn't part of our nature that predates capitalism.
Foie gras was developed like half a millenia ago... humans have always had the capacity for and willingness to be cruel for our own individual betterment. There was never any "before" time that we can go back to where there werent shitty people doing shitty things. We have been exploiting and exterminating animals for centuries and centuries, we just have the best tools to do it, that weve ever had now.
I did work in warehouse of a company that sells perishables on amazon. There were times in summer when half the inventory would get molds or maggots.
It was apparently still cheaper than keeping everything refrigerated tho because the company simply bought twice as much food needed and just let the rest waste.
Not letting people sleep 8 hours naturally does the same thing.

I fully cut meat out of my diet two months ago. I get cravings, but the idea of meat is so morally repugnant to me now that I can hardly even handle seeing friends casually consume it. It really sucks because I know nobody will understand if I start talking about it and I'm kinda forced to be alone with these feelings :(
If watching characters work through allegorically similar problems helps, Ravenous is sort of what I imagine that feeling can be like.
