For some people, Netflix has become akin to a utility like electricity and it is factored into the family budget every which way.

I haven't pirated since the pre-Netflix days. I did for years, but then once streaming was so cheap and it had everything I stopped. This year I had to set it all up again. Before I didn't really have a good set up it was just ad hoc, downloading and tossing stuff on a server.

Now, thanks to that last D+ price hike I completed my arr stack and I have any movie I want as soon as it hits streaming, plus on going monitoring of all my shows regardless of where they are streaming. Even if they get their shit together now, I won't be leaving this set up.

So thanks Disney, for giving me the motivation I needed to complete my media stack, it was long over due.

Google did this to me. I bought Fitbit a couple years ago and ended up throwing it in the trash when Google replaced the wonderfully simple Fitbit app with some bullshit called Google Health, packed with AI.

Why we let a company have us enter into a contract for what they can offer and then arbitrarily change the terms but not require you to agree to the new terms before charging you for the new terms … consumer protections in the USA are ass

Can you imagine a customer writing new terms of service and sending it to the company and expecting it to become a binding contract if they don’t immediately cancel the subscription?

But like … HBO used to show commercials FOR HBO in between movies. And if they show me a ad for Disney+ … straight to the cancellation page.

They show me an ad for anything unrelated … cancellation.

I have AdGuard running on my router. GL.iNet routers have it as an option right out of the box.
