The admin is fine.

Everyone else is doomed.

I hope a rag-tag group of rebels starts emailing every church, company and organization they can find an email for with a fake update about how great the ballroom is going and how little the White House cares about your problems.

[-] Hikermick@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

No need to fake it just add their email address to Trump's fundraising website. Caveat: doing so might be a teensie bit illegal https://win.donaldjtrump.com/

[-] socsa@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago

Nixon fell on his sword for a reason. At some point this is all going to come back around on every Republican, every corporation, and every individual who enabled or appeased this utter idiot.

I listened to this podcast recently:

Well, so we know we went and saw him in the middle of the war. I mean, early stages of the war, very intense period of the war, about two weeks and a bit into the war with Iran. And he the thing he first thing he wanted us to see, he was holding up photographs of maple trees. And he's saying, you know, I'm buying these maple trees for the White House. Turns out I'm good at buying trees. And then underneath it were photographs of the ballroom and the columns. He wanted us to know the columns are, I think, bigger than the Supreme Court's columns or more of them or what have you. And one side was inspired by Athens and the other side by Rome. This occupied probably first 15 minutes of our time with him before we got to anything to do with the Iran war.

and earlier ...

It's truly an inordinate amount of his time is spent redecoration, renovation, the ballroom, but also building monuments and naming things after himself. It's become an obsession. And we have a scene in the book, actually, in the Oval Office last October where he he's talking to a couple of visitors about he wants to build essentially a replica of the Arc de Triomphe in Washington, which they call internally the Arc de Trump. You know, he's got different models of it. There's a huge one, a middle one, a small one. You know, he wants it to be bigger than the Lincoln Memorial. Anyway, he's in the room with some of his agents. He says, let's call Emmanuel. Let's call Emmanuel. Ask because he had some questions he wanted to know about the Arc de Triomphe, which presumably he could have just Googled. [...] But instead, he gets Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, on the speakerphone. And he starts asking Emmanuel, you know, does your arch have a viewing platform? Do people jump off it? You know, all this. How big is the arch? You know, all these sort of questions about the arch. So I just there's no way that I can overstate how much time is spent on these matters.

(emphasis added)

That last sentence has really stuck with me.

"Turns out I’m good at buying trees."

:| Fuck me I'm tired.

What's this, Mr. Balloon? Mr. Balloon Hands? Mr. Walkway? Mr. Walk-me-up-to-the-door. He thinks he's king of the trees. Mr. King-of-tying-knots. Who paid for these floors?

[-] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 3 points 1 day ago

I feel you buddy.

Turns out I'm good at buying trees.

Tell me you're alienated under capitalism without telling me you're alienated under capitalism.

Don't Look Up

[-] Carmakazi@piefed.social 56 points 2 days ago

So it's between two things I think

One is that he keeps talking about his pet real estate projects because that's been his life and what he "knows" (being generous).

The other that I hope is true is that he is very, very anxious that the bunker complex will not be complete by the time he needs it.

[-] marcos@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

If he's hoping the bunker would protect against domestic unrest, he is stupider than I imagined.

But well, if he is still buying the Israel line that Iran will kill him at any time now... IDK... Maybe my imagination was just too limited.

[-] Carmakazi@piefed.social 14 points 2 days ago

It's not going to protect him if he loses all support and an angry mob violently forces their way onto the property, but it will probably be where he hangs out while MAGA makes its final play for seizing full control of the rest of the government and openly suspending the old rule of law. Even if he has little to worry about, he's a coward through and through.

[-] marcos@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Using it that way is a really effective way to have somebody else take the coup out of his hands right when it succeeds. And a really ineffective way to protect against it failing.

That said, this kind of stupidity is right in line of what I imagine him having :)

[-] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I think his plan is to sit there with multiple unseverable secure control channels and custody of the nuclear arsenal, and hold the world hostage for as long as he needs to.

The ultimate "taking my ball and going home," where the ball is sized to Trump's mental illness.

[-] Freeposity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I think he plans to sit in the bunker when he either cancels the 2028 election or when he refuses to leave after a new president is elected.

[-] bampop@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Wow that would be so great. Pour concrete over the entrance. Leave the air intake open but route it through the new septic tank, specially built to service a public toilet block. Imagine the joy this could bring to the American people, inviting you to get creative with your meal choices. The spicier the better. The early morning atmosphere will be something special!

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

I'd like to say that a new president can be ushered in regardless of what anyone says if the current one is MIA or won't attend

[-] Freeposity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Delusional Don doesn't get that.

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Your delusional don would be inside the bunker and presumably would not be able to do much by himself

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Probably when "AI hacks" our monetary system and we have to replace the dollar with stable coins. This has to be done before 2028.

[-] cogitase@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 2 days ago

Every major news outlet that reported on this said Driscoll resigned due to conflict with Hegseth. Don't believe random tweets just because they start with "NEW:" or "BREAKING:"

[-] bashibazouk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

On the one hand, Driscoll did have a meeting to discuss the current state of the army with Trump the week before he resigned. On the other hand a quick search of who this Dominic Michael Tripi is opened a deep and weird rabbit hole. I would take anything he tweets with a few grains if not a pound of salt...

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Lol the dude clearly isn't real. Just a maga bot.

Seriously this type of crap has to end. But also more people need to have some skepticism.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I know it’s forgotten a lot, but this is political memes not politicalnews

[-] cybervseas@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

People also forget what memes are, but we usually overlook that.

[-] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Because we live in a meme world now

[-] skisnow@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Memes are basically what got Trump elected in the first place. They're a way of smuggling bullshit into people's memories.

[-] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

"Every major news outlet" is fucking meaningless these days. Mainstream media has fallen so far that their articles are, at best, misleading and a distraction; outright lies and propaganda at worst. They don't give a shit about verifying the truth anymore and will kill stories the moment it inconveniences anyone in power. The fourth branch is fucking dead. They have been defanged, declawed, and sold off to billionaires who keep them around like trained gimps.

And yes, random tweets are not better; but if you still think any major news outlet still has even a shred of credibility left, you haven't been paying attention.

[-] searabbit@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

I agree that mainstream media is fully compromised, but good independent reporting has just been silently migrating to youtube. The fourth branch is only as dead as you allow it to get.

[-] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

What's some good YouTube reporters? Know of any good podcasts (easier format for me)?

[-] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I agree there are still good independent reporters. But the point is that they don't fall under the category of "Every major news outlet". Even when independent reporters make in-depth reports on what should be bombshell topics, major news outlets won't even mention it. They have all been captured and corrupted.

[-] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

You mean the Epstein ballroom?

[-] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 5 points 1 day ago

A room where all but the kids have a ball

[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

You left the field wide open there but I'm not gonna kick that ball.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The President doesn't matter. He's an easily manipulated buffoon, and a very good sineater/scapegoat. He's not actually running the show (neither did Biden).

Trump loves the ballroom. They gave him that to occupy his time with, and it works. Who is "they"?

Well, that's a very complex question, but they are all making a killing off of the Iran and Israeli wars right now. Hundreds of billions.

When Trump dies, the world will celebrate. The king is dead, the king is dead!

Long live the king.
